British Airways Adds Flights to Stockholm from London City

Crawley, West Sussex (PRWEB) December 4, 2010

British Airways has taken up options for two new Embraer E-190 jets, one year after the first aircraft in the new fleet went into service, and is about to launch a new double daily flight to Stockholm from London City Airport.

BA CityFlyer, the wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways, originally placed firm orders for six Embraer 170 and five Embraer 190SR efficiency jets, known as E-jets, with options on three further 98-seat Embraer 190s.

They are now converting two of these options for delivery in Spring 2011.

Peter Simpson, BA CityFlyer managing director, said: “We are delighted to announce the conversion of these two options, which will increase our fleet size by almost 20 per cent at London City Airport. Customer feedback on the new fleet has been fantastic, particularly with the additional space and two-by-two seating. The successful fleet introduction and customer reaction to the E-Jets has given us the confidence to expand so soon after the initial order.”

The two additional aircraft will enable British Airways to expand its route network from the Docklands airport with new flights to Stockholm (http://www.britishairways.com/travel/flights-to-stockholm/public/en_gb) Arlanda from January 9 2011. They are currently in discussions with various airports for opportunities with the second aircraft.

Luke Hayhoe, BA CityFlyer commercial manager, said: “We were always hopeful of taking up options for the larger Embraer 190s and are delighted to confirm this. This does of course present opportunities for us to further expand our London City schedule. The success of our recently launched Copenhagen service and customer requests made the decision on Stockholm (http://www.britishairways.com/travel/stockholm/public/en_gb) an exciting choice. We will announce further new services in the coming months.”

British Airways already offers a selection of hand picked 3 to 5-star hotels to compliment holidays in Stockholm (http://www.britishairways.com/travel/holidays-in-stockholm/public/en_gb).
